Fire Equipment Donation, Bayaguana, Dominican Republic, December 2019

ProJecto paid a visit to fire department headquarters in the Dominican city of Bayaguana in December 2019.  Our team brought with them a substantial donation of equipment courtesy of the Fire-Tec of Margate, Florida, Embarque Colonial, our logistics partner and the Riviera Beach (Florida) Fire Department who donated a Hurst Jaws of Life, an extrication tool used to free victims of auto accidents. The Jaws of Life is commonplace among fire departments in the United States, but in the Dominican Republic, it is a luxury to have such a device on a fire truck, as it is too costly to own and maintain.  Bayaguana firefighters now have this essential tool and the training to use it.  ProJecto also visited the cities of Mama Tingo, Los Botados, Peralvillo, El Copey and Villa Trina.  Firefighter gear, helmets, boots and an assortment of tools were left in the capable hands of their firefighters.
